FIRST TIME

+ When does house of movement have classes?

Currently, House of Movement offers a total of 12 classes from Monday through Friday. Five 7:00-8:30 PM classes, two 8:00-9:30PM classes, and five 8:30-10:00PM classes. Our studio offers classes in hip hop and street styles as well as various levels from beginner to advanced. For our detailed class schedule and description, visit our Schedule page.

+ Where are classes held?

All of our classes are held at Pearl Studios, 500 8th Ave, located on 8th Ave between 35th and 36th St. Classes are typically held on the 3rd or 4th floor. The best way to stay updated is to follow our Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram pages (@homnyc). Nearby public transportation includes the 1, 2, 3, A, C, E (34th St) by subway, Penn Station, and Port Authority.

+ What should I wear and bring to class?

We recommend wearing fitness apparel such as sneakers, sweatpants, and t-shirts. You should also bring water to class and stay hydrated. Pearl Studios has dressing rooms if you're coming from work or school, and need to change into dance clothes. Pearl Studios sells water, has a water fountain, and has a vending machine. Please, bring your ID to get into the Pearl Studio building. If you’ve pre-registered online, all you need to do is tell the HoM staff your first and last name.

+ What can i expect during my 90-min long class?

Arrive to the studio at least 5 minutes early. Pearl studio has a changing room and bathroom. Please change into your dance wear prior to class. The first 15-20 minutes consist of a warm up. The next hour will focus on learning choreography. The class will be divided into smaller groups in the last 10-15 minutes. These groups will be filmed and posted on our Facebook page. — tag us @homnyc ! Please note our Video Release Notice.

+ What class should i take?

+ Are there any age restrictions?

House of Movement's classes are open to all ages and skill levels. Parents are encouraged to accompany their children to the studio, where they can either watch class from the side or take class as well and make it a family fitness activity! Please note that some classes may contain songs with profanity.(For families: each person must have their own account. Packages cannot be shared between accounts.)

+ Can I come watch?

Please email us if you would like to observe a class. You must give us 24-48 hours of advanced notice. If you do not give us advance notice, the studio manager has the right to decline based on how full the class is. Families/ guardians with a child in the class are allowed to sit and watch.

+ Do you post class videos?

Yes! We post videos directly to our Facebook page within 48 hours after class. They are in a Google Photos folder labeled as the date/class time, and information about classes daily on our social media channels and on our YouTube channel. Follow us and chat with us on your channel of choosing to learn more about us — Facebook & Instagram. Please note our Video Release Notice.


Purchases

+ Can you extend my package?

No. House of Movement does not offer extensions on class credits/ packages.

+ do you offer discounts?

At this time, we do not offer discounts for new students, high school/ college students, or seniors. But, we offer many discounts throughout the year for most major holidays. Sign up for our newsletter and follow us on Instagram & Facebook to be notified about promotions!

+ can i pay in cash or in-studio?

Yes. But students will not be able to reserve for class ahead of time as payment is needed to make reservations. You can come to the studio to pre-load your account with a package for future use.

+ how do i buy a class for a friend?

Classes are non-transferable and each student must have their own account. If you would like to buy a class for a friend, please buy them a gift card. Gifts cards can be redeemed at any time but will have a normal expiration period once redeemed/ activated. To Redeem: Gift cards simply act as cash. "Buy" the corresponding package and use the gift card ID before checkout. The balance should be $0.00. Please Note: Gift cards purchased before Sept 1st, 2019 must be redeemed via a staff member. Please ask any of our staff in-studio or email us at houseofmovementny@gmail.com to redeem your gift card.

+ what is your refund policy?

Refunds are not automatic upon class cancellation. No refunds for late cancellations. For refunds, email houseofmovementny@gmail.com. Your package must be within 30 days of purchase to be eligible for a refund. Package/ credit must be unused. No partial refunds.

+ can i pay after class?

No. All unpaid and walk-in students must have a package in their account already or pay prior to the scheduled class.


OTHER

+ DO YOU HAVE HOUSE OF MOVEMENT APPAREL FOR SALE?

Yes! House of Movement works with Friend Of A Friend apparel to design seasonal collections. Items are in limited availability. Since we have a limited supply, our apparel is only available for purchase at the studio during classes. We accept payment in cash or credit.
